GPS Stone (GPX Trip Recorder) app for iPhone and iPad
GPS Stone trip tracker is a GPX file generator. Display current GPS information, speed (max and average), position, distance, elevation, and shows on the map but also record all the trip information to review it in Google Earth.
GPS Stone records and exports all your trips to your main computer for geo-tagging/photo-tagging or trip management.
Follow your trip on the map in real time, or use the detailed view with the current speed, average speed, altitude, traveled distance, position accuracy, direction, and more!
Once back home, review where you have been at a given time, and for how long. It also works for sport activities, cycling, car, trekking… of course, it can be useful for any photo tour walk.
Additionally, GPS Stone can export the trip you’ve recorded in the standard GPX format. See your trip on Google Earth, or compatible software such as Atom GPS and GeoSetter for PC or HoudaGeo for Mac.

Pros and cons of GPS Stone (GPX Trip Recorder) app for iPhone and iPad
GPS Stone (GPX Trip Recorder) app good for

2012: GPX standard timestamp is in UTC not in local time; please correct
Great idea for an app, finally my iPhone can do what my 5 year old Garmin can.. Log trips!
I just bought this app to use on my iPad and iPod. I tested it by turning on the apps trip recorder while I drove around my neighbourhood taking photos. I then eMailed the coord file to myself.
I also had to buy Mac software (HoudahGeo) for $33 that writes the info in this file to the photos I shot. A very painless and fast process. You just drag and drop the photos and the file to the softwares window. In an instant the GPS coords are recorded in each photo, along with elevation. Neat.
The hardware alternative I looked at was about $350.
Some bad moments
This is exactly what I needed to tag my pictures from my DSLR. Tested it out in my pocket and it was dead on and ran in the background on my iPhone 4.
For the makers of the program, I really need a button to toggle from the map back to the speedometer. I cant hold my finger steady enough on the screen to slide back while riding my bike. Otherwise its a great little app. Please consider on updated versions for a 5 star rating. Thanks.
I do use this application whenever I navigate... Checking my speed ( not 2 exceed the limits ), in addition to how long distance I cut in my travel,
I hope it will be developed ASAP,
It does exactly what it says.
Someone who loves traveling will love this app as well. Its brilliantly designed….
Thanks a lot !!!
I like this app a lot it is a great conditioning tool for equine riders fun to exact distance & speed and helped me navigate unknown trails
I like the idea of this app, to record a GPX file of a trip. That file could be useful for traffic accidents or citations.
But it crashes after 5-10 miles. Id rather it record an entire trip, say 500 miles in a day! I suspect its a compatibility issue.
My device is iPhone 4S ios 6.0.1. Please fix, otherwise Ill be forced to write my own GPX recorder and put it on iTunes!
